Now it's easy to perform many of the most common statistical techniques when you use the SAS Enterprise Guide point-and-click interface to access the power of SAS. Emphasizing the practical aspects of the analysis, this example-rich guide shows you how to conduct a wide range of statistical analyses without any SAS programming required. One or more real data sets, a brief introduction of the technique, and a clear explanation of the SAS Enterprise Guide output are provided for each analysis. Exercises at the end of each chapter help you consolidate what has been learned.

Topics include: Analysis of variance Dealing with categorical data Logistic regression Regression Significance tests Survival analysis And more!

This text is ideal for those who want to use SAS to analyze their data, but do not have the time to undertake the considerable amount of learning involved in the programming approach.

Informative material that is less well written :(
I picked up this book immediately after going through 'The Little SAS Book for Enterprise Guide 4.1.` The Little SAS Book,,. is very well written and lot easier to follow and learn; whereas the 'Basic Statistics,,` is not. For instance, in the book, the authors take step one and then step 3; so, one has to figure out what step 2 is - most likely on their own via trial and error :( - before one can understand step 3. I wish the book was well-written and easy to follow.

I hope I will get to the golden nuggets in the book by trial and error and with some help from fellow SAS Enterprise Guide users.

To put it dramatically, `There seem to be several golden nuggets in the Basic Statistics,,.; but, one has to endure the thorns on the path to get to the nuggets.` :(

A solid and short introduction to statistical techniques in SAS -without- programming
As an author (`SAS for Dummies`), I am always surprised when people criticize a book for what it doesn't cover (typically a niche) when the title itself doesn't imply that it will cover their pet topic!

That said, this book does an excellent job at providing an overview via examples of some key statistical techniques available with SAS Enterprise Guide in a mere 200 pages! While it doesn't cover quality control/six sigma or forecasting/time series, it does a nice job at taking the reader through classic statistical techniques like t-tests, chi-quare, regression, ANOVA, multiple regression, logistic regression, and survival analysis.

It is important to note that this is very much learning by example and light on theory on the various methods, but that's why I like it since there are so many books on the various topics that can easily supplement with all the details for each method.

The chapters are:
Chapter 1 Introduction to SAS Enterprise Guide
Chapter 2 Data Description and Simple Inference
Chapter 3 Dealing with Categorical Data
Chapter 4 Dealing with Bivariate Data
Chapter 5 Analysis of Variance
Chapter 6 Multiple Linear Regression
Chapter 7 Logistic Regression
Chapter 8 Survival Analysis

Just the basics
A good book on the basics. I was hoping for examples with more application to typical market research uses, but was left having to make this leap myself.
