no `fluff` in this book
I find that typically SAP books have about 10 chapters of information that doesn't help, or that the books are very long (400+ page) -- and this book isn't short by any means, but it includes the information I needed and the time I needed the information.

Just about everything is available on SAP's website, but if you don't have access or if you dont have the time to sift through all of the information, which can be quite complicated and daunting - this book is a good shortcut. Just the information you need. No more, no less.

configure SRM from scratch
I am new to the SAP business, and it looks like SRM is finally a very good place to be. I purchased this book and was able to start and configure the SRM solution from scratch. Everything you need is included in this book, and also this book fills in many gaps that are left unanswered in the online help. The online help will get you started, but you do need a book referene to get you all the way to a fully configured system. The book has a good index so if you are searching for some piece of information in particular, and need a quick answer - the information is there for you, rather than searching online which is very time consuming. If you have all of the time in the world, then I believe you can invest the several months that it will take you to figure out the solution on your own. If you want to rely on an expert in the business to provide the answers for you, then this is an excellent resource.

Most of the information is available for FREE at SAP site
I purchased this book when i was implementing my first SRM project. This book covers all the steps needed for the configuration but does not include all the details. Most of the topics covered in this book are also available in the SAP Configuration guide that is available in SAP Site. There are couple of chapters that are quite useful but that information is also available at the SDN forums.

Business scenario configuration guides can be downloaded at the following link https://websmp105.sap-ag.de/ibc-srm .The SAP Business scenario configuration guides can be used for starting your implementation. For any problems during implementation , you can search for solutions at the SDN forum for FREE at https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/collaboration . There are lot of useful tips in this forum be it CLASSIC or EXTENDED CLASSIC scenarios.
