In Detail

Moodle is a very popular e-learning tool in universities and high schools. But what does it have to offer younger students who want a fun, interesting, interactive, and informative learning experience? Moodle empowers teachers to achieve all this and more and this book will show you how!

This book will show complete beginners in Moodle with no technical background how to make the most of its features to enhance the learning and teaching of children aged around 7-14.

This is a practical book for teachers, written by a teacher with two decades of practical experience, latterly in using Moodle to motivate younger students. Its aim is to give you some hints and advice on how to get your Moodle courses up and running with useful content that your students will actually want to go and learn from on a regular basis. We will assume that you have an installation of Moodle managed by somebody else, so you are responsible only for creating and delivering course content. Throughout the book we will be building a course from scratch, adaptable for ages 7 to 14 on Rivers and Flooding It could be any topic, as Moodle lends itself to all subjects and ages.

Moodle for All Ages
Doesn't take a genius to figure out that what works for 7-14 year olds is good for the rest of the world. Moodle-made-friendly!

User review
Love this book - great for novice and experienced users!
I have been using Moodle with my 5th grade class for two years now. I had to teach myself as my district didn't provide training so it was trial and error. This past year, I did an inservice for the parents of my students so that they could have an idea of what their children were doing each day. We were doing database, forums, posting links, study guides, etc. I was asked to teach an advanced moodle class this summer to fellow teachers. Uh-oh. After a quick survey I realized they were doing similar things as me. How was I going to kick it up a notch? This book provided the perfect solution! While I knew how to upload files and create links, it just meant I could read through the content faster. However, I learned TONS about making Moodle more interactive. Loved the hot potato quiz and game section of this book. I basically taught myself the Moodle quiz version prior to purchasing this book, but I love hot potatoes stuff better. Book easy to use and something for everyone. Can't wait to make moodle do the grading for me! Another cool feature didn't know existed. Put some time and effort into doing it right this year, I'll have a bunch of resources to use next year. Looking forward to it all.

It's Like Moodle for Dummies
I couldn't be more pleased with this book. I am technology challenged and want to learn how to use Moodle to build lessons for my teachers. I am a reading coach and want to `keep up` with the latest resources. I have used the step by step lessons already and have found them to be soooo simple to follow. My lesson was a huge success and I am now ready to go forth and Moodle some more! If I can do it anyone can!! This book is a keeper.
