User review Very helpful for an amateur I didn't know anything about Photoshop so I found this book very helpful for someone like me, who needed to learn step by step, slowly at my own pace. It was a book that was recommended by the photography teacher at Santa Monica City College. Since I dropped the course for lack of time, I decided to try on my own and I found that with each chapter I learned something new. No book will be perfect, but I think if you have no background in Photoshop, or a minimal background, this book will teach what you the basics before you go on to the more advanced moves. User review Very useful I am a fairly serious amateur who has used Photoshop CS2 for more than a year and used Photoshop Elements for a couple of years before that. Most of this book applies to CS2 as well as CS3, but much of it does not apply to Elements. I learned a lot from this book. The information is clear and neither talks down to you nor expects you to be a Photoshop geek. No book could ever cover everthing in Photoshop, but this one covers most of the important concepts in a way that is easy to understand and very useful. My only complaint is that I wish there were more in-line color pictures. There is a section of color plates in the middle of the book, but those in the text are all black and white. I suppose that helps keep the price modest, but it is sometimes a problem. Nevertheless, I think most Photoshop CS2 or CS3 users would find a lot in this book that they don't already know. I have serveral books on Photoshop, and this is one of my favorites. User review the worst book i have ever purchased I owned this book for 3 short days before I returned it. The examples are unclear and the chapter lead nowhere. You don't wind up with a finished product at the end that you can apply to other photos. Other books on Adobe Photoshop | |||||||||||
