It illustrates an easy and effective method to handle projects with the help of extensive real-world examples. Who this book is written for? The book is for a person or a group of people who are looking for an efficient and flexible project management tool for managing any kind of project. They may be users with technical knowledge such as system administrators or IT professionals, or users with basic computer and internet skills who want a project management tool that they can learn easily without having to learn HTML or a programming language. No prior experience of formal project management is required. User review Simple but effective. I have been using the dotProject application for over a year now, and I must say it is a lifesaver. It has a very dedicated group of people documenting the installation and use of it; However as I started showing the application to others, I needed them to refer to a single documentation that sums up the entire dotProject application from installation, usage to backup and upgrade. `Project management with dotProject` by Lee Jordan fits the above requirement perfectly. It is basically a collection of `to do` lists that documents the installation of dotProject onto a Linux or Windows based systems and does not stop there it even explains on how to publish the application to a web site using the very popular cPanel. I specially like the explanation on how to use SSL and why. As I told you earlier, there are very dedicated people who have documented a lot of information in a specially formulated Wiki for the dotProject application, so almost everything in this book can be found very easily, There is a lot missing in this book to be 5 star worthy for example, possible configuration examples of LDAP configurions, or what happens to the files that are uploaded, why are they saved as numerical representation and not the actual file names, or assignment of tasks via email and collaboration I can add many more, it would be a 4 star worthy if the suggested price was less. Best Fishes and thank you for reading. User review Sucks One of the worst software books I've ever read. This book is so incomplete, it's a complete joke. If you think it's going to help you master dotproject, think again. Don't waste your money on this one. User review Recommended if you are serious about using dotProject `Project Management with dotProject` is a very accessible, but comprehensive overview for those who want to use the dotProject PM software. Lee Jordan starts out by handling all aspects for installation of the system. I know how to do it, but I think with this guide almost everyone with a little software background can do it. What I like the most about the book is that it not only covers the administration and actual use of the software, but also where to find hacks for things not included in the default dotProject installation. If you are serious about using dotProject, I recommend this book Other books on Web |
